This site was founded by the Olmec-Xicalanca culture between (100 to 1100 AD). The historic tradition states the Olmec-Xicalancas as a very rich culture. Evidence of this is the huge platform in Cacaxtla and lavish decoration that tells us more about the historical past of the group's way of life in this time. Cacaxtla was a strategic point for controlling the passage of trade between Teotihuacan and the lowlands of the Gulf through which it came to Tabasco and Campeche, which was crucial for its growth and splendor. It is a gem of artistic creation of our ancestors, considered to be naturalistic painting, its the product of biculturalism of the Olmec-Xicalancas that left fragile walls reflecting in stories of sea battles, male birds, human cobs, stars and snakes.
