Carnival in Tlaxcala

Papalotla, Yauhquemecan, Teolocholco, Zaca, etc.).

Starts on February 18th and each town makes its Carnival auction at different times,
finishing up on Palm Sunday.

The main feature of the Carnival in Tlaxcala is the showy costumes, wooden masks that mimic
the features of the Spanish and the variety of parades and music that each village participates with.
In Tlaxcala there are different dance troops invited to dance in five different stages
in the downtown of the city from 12:00 to
20:00 hrs. On February the 17th,18th and 19th.
Feast of Our Lady of Ocotlan
- Ocotlán, Tlaxcala
- Monday May 21st
- The celebration of Our Lady of Ocotlan is held the third Monday in May,
with the procession of "La Bajada" of the Virgin to the city of Tlaxcala.
The streets are decorated with flowers, paper, long festoons and flowers mats
and colored sawdust. The pilgrimage visits the Parish of San Jose and the former
Franciscan convent. On its return, climbs the Chapel of the Well (where image of
the Virgin appeared), and culminates with a Mass in the courtyard of the beautiful
Sanctuary of Ocotlan.
Fair of Apizaco

- From February 24th to March 11th
- The city of Apizaco does its fair where besides the religious acts,
its characterized by events such as folk dances, bullfights, rodeos and dances.
Thursday of Corpus
- Huamantla, Tlaxcala
- June 7th
- Mats are made of sawdust around the main square, for the solemn procession
which takes place at 18:00 hrs and comes out of the Church of San Luis Obispo.
Parting of the 400 families Tlaxcaltecas
- Former Convent of Our Lady of the Snows, Totolac, Tlaxcala.
- July 6th
- Very few know that by royal decree in 1591, 400 families left Tlaxcala with
the task of colonizing the north. They Tlaxcatecas founded several towns in what
is now Jalisco, San Luis Potosi, Zacatecas, Guanajuato, Sinaloa, Nuevo Leon,
Chihuahua, Tamaulipas, West Texas, Santa Fe, New Mexico, among others.
This historical event is known as the Diaspora Tlaxcalteca is staged in
the Convent of Our Lady of the Snows in San Juan Totolac.

an important international festival, as it has become an event of worldwide significance.
Fair of Huamantla

- During Huamantla Fair in the courtyard of the Church of Charity, floral
carpets are made that frame some religious scene, combine these activities
with cultural festivals, art and sporting events.
The Night That Nobody Sleeps

- Known as "The Night That Nobody sleeps." On the streets of Huamantla are placed 6 kilometers
of sawdust and flower carpets through which the pilgrimage of the Virgin passes at midnight from
her church and returns at dawn.

Feast of San Miguel of Miracle

- In 1631, St. Michael the Archangel appeared to Diego Lazaro, informing him that there would be
a spring of miraculous water. Before that event, he built a chapel and later a temple.
It is the most famous sanctuaries of Tlaxcala.
Enjoy your visit to the party of the town and go to the archaeological
site of Cacaxtla this is a few blocks from the Sanctuary, where you will find
murals that have been left and amazed the world since its discovery in 1975.

Celebration of the Lord of the Convent

Miraculous Black Christ of the Franciscan convent. Area rugs can be seen starting at 14:00 hrs.
